A government source revealed on Friday the truth about the reopening of the Al-Shaib border crossing with Iran after its closure for more than 72 hours.
The source explained to Al-Maalomah that “the news circulating on some websites and social media platforms about the reopening of the Al-Shaib border crossing between Iraq and Iran is inaccurate, and it remains closed for more than 72 hours.”
He pointed out that “the closure decision came directly from the central government, and therefore the executive authorities implemented the decision according to orders,” indicating that “the reopening of the crossing is directly linked to Baghdad.”
He noted that “the security authorities, including the Maysan Operations Command, have not issued any statement regarding the crossing during the past three days,” emphasizing that “all eyes are on Baghdad awaiting any positions or updates on the decision, but in any case, the closure order has taken effect.”
