An informed source revealed on Saturday the disappearance of sums of money exceeding 17 billion Iraqi dinars, belonging to revenue collection and electronic accounts in one of the government banks.
According to the source speaking to Shafaq News Agency, the Federal Integrity Commission and the Federal Board of Financial Control are required to intervene to investigate the reasons for the disappearance of these funds, review the financial records and related electronic accounts, as well as audit the procedures taken regarding collection operations and financial transfers.
The source indicated the need to identify the administrative or financial shortcomings, reveal the parties responsible, and take the necessary legal measures against anyone proven to be involved or negligent, in order to ensure the protection of public funds and prevent the recurrence of such cases.
These demands come amid emphasis on the importance of strengthening oversight of public funds, ensuring transparency in the management of banking revenues, and holding those responsible accountable in accordance with the law.
It is worth noting that the Federal Integrity Commission had previously announced the manipulation and embezzlement of 14 billion dinars in a government bank, indicating that 10 defendants had been arrested in a number of the bank’s branches in the capital, Baghdad.
