Former MP Arif al-Hamami revealed on Tuesday that 95% of the Nasiriyah International Airport project has been completed, noting that the airport’s capacity could reach three million passengers annually.
Al-Hamami explained to Al-Maalouma that “the Nasiriyah International Airport project has entered its final stages, with completion rates exceeding 95%,” predicting “its completion by the end of 2026 for its opening, making it another point on the map of Iraqi international airports.”
He added that “its capacity could reach three million passengers annually, and it will be an important hub for receiving domestic and international flights,” emphasizing that “the airport will be a gateway for attracting companies and businesspeople in addition to passengers, and will be an important point for reducing pressure on airports in the southern region as a whole.”
He pointed out that “Dhi Qar is witnessing economic and commercial activity, in addition to the presence of oil fields, and this will encourage an increase in direct flights to the region.”
