Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi revealed on Tuesday that the United States had classified Iraq as one of its enemies and had resolved to launch military strikes and impose a blockade on the country, but Baghdad succeeded in averting this danger by establishing economic partnerships with Washington.
Al-Aboudi said during a dialogue session on the sidelines of the second day of the “Miri” forum in Erbil that “Iraq must open up to everyone,” explaining that “before the current government headed by Ali al-Zaidi, we were in isolation or almost in isolation, and when we visited the United States with the Prime Minister, we found a discourse that classified us as enemies.”
He added, “The Americans had informed us that they had decided to bomb and besiege Iraq, but we have gradually begun to dispel this problem and turn this hostility into friendship and economic partnership, and indeed we have signed very large contracts with the American side.”
Al-Aboudi continued, saying, “It is important that the American side has an interest in Iraq, and this interest will not be military but economic, and we have signed contracts in the field of energy worth one trillion dollars with America.”
