An informed source revealed on Monday that disagreements over the nominee for the Ministry of Migration and Displacement remain unresolved, anticipating a postponement of the vote if it is presented along with the other eight ministerial posts.
The source explained to Al-Maalouma that “agreements have been reached on eight of the remaining nine ministerial portfolios in Ali al-Zaidi’s government, which is currently being run by acting ministers. These eight portfolios were settled by political forces through dialogue, but the Ministry of Migration and Displacement remains a point of contention regarding the nominee.”
The source added that “postponing the vote on this ministry’s nominee is a possibility, especially since the ministry is designated for the Christian community, but there are disagreements among the political factions representing this community.” The source indicated that “an agreement may or may not be reached, but in any case, a postponement is likely if a political consensus is not reached on the nominee for this ministry.”
