Member of the Coordination Framework, Uday Abdul-Hadi, confirmed on Sunday that the upcoming meeting of the Framework will finalize the date for the parliamentary session to decide on nine ministerial portfolios still being managed by acting ministers in Ali al-Zidi’s government.
Abdul-Hadi explained to Al-Maalouma that “the upcoming Framework meeting will address the issue of finalizing an agreement on setting a date for a parliamentary session to vote on the candidates for the nine ministerial portfolios still being managed by acting ministers in Ali al-Zidi’s government.” He indicated that “three to four ministries are almost settled with a single candidate nominated for each, while the remaining ministries still have more than one candidate. However, the number of candidates is expected to be narrowed down in the coming days, paving the way for the names to be presented to the parliamentary session.”
He added that “it is premature to determine whether the names can be voted on all at once, as this matter is left to the parliament according to constitutional mechanisms,” emphasizing that “there is a clear political agreement on the necessity of expediting the selection of candidates and voting on them within the parliament.”
