MP Ahmed al-Moussawi, a member of the Coordination Framework, criticized on Sunday the efforts of some political blocs to create new government positions, arguing that they offer no real benefit to the government’s work, given the need to focus on improving institutional performance and meeting citizens’ needs.
Al-Moussawi told the Information Agency, “Some political forces are seeking to create new positions, including deputy prime minister positions, despite the lack of clarity regarding their practical usefulness in managing government affairs or developing executive work mechanisms.”
He added, “The expansion in creating new government positions raises questions about their necessity, especially since the current stage requires directing efforts toward addressing service and economic issues and enhancing the efficiency of state institutions, rather than adding new administrative titles.”
He pointed out the importance of “based decisions related to the government structure on actual needs and work requirements, ensuring that state institutions are not burdened with additional responsibilities without achieving tangible results in government performance.”
