The Coordination Framework will hold an important periodic meeting tomorrow, Monday, in the presence of Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, to discuss a number of political and security issues, in addition to reviewing the most prominent topics that al-Zaidi will discuss during his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi will conduct a Gulf tour next Wednesday, which includes Saudi Arabia, followed by Kuwait, to discuss joint security and economic issues, as well as the situation in the region and its impact on security and economic conditions, in addition to common issues at various levels.
An informed source told Shafaq News Agency that “the forces of the Coordination Framework will also discuss the latest developments in the political scene in the country, the security developments in the region, and Iraq’s role in calming the situation and ending the conflict.”
The source explained that the meeting will emphasize the importance of finalizing the candidates for the government cabinet and ending the controversy regarding the positions of deputy prime ministers, in addition to reviewing the results of the negotiations being conducted by the Quartet Committee of the Coordination Framework with the factions.
Al-Zaidi’s anticipated tour comes after the cancellation of a planned visit to Riyadh last July, due to the rapidly evolving security situation in the region.
Iraqi-Gulf relations have been marked by anticipation and caution since the launch of regional military operations in February 2016, amid repeated accusations from countries in the region that armed factions are exploiting Iraqi territory to launch drone attacks targeting regional economic interests.
