Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Qubad Talabani, confirmed on Saturday that there is a serious will to form the new government cabinet, expressing his optimism that the remaining obstacles can be resolved and the government can be formed during the current fall season.
Talabani said during a press conference held in Sulaymaniyah and attended by Shafaq News Agency that current indicators are encouraging regarding the formation of the government, expressing his hope that this step will be completed during the fall.
Regarding the talks between the political forces, Talabani stressed the need to hold meetings between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, emphasizing the importance of these meetings in moving the political process forward, and indicating that there is a genuine intention to form the new government.
Regarding the obstacles that still stand in the way of forming the government cabinet, Talabani explained that some obstacles may have been overcome, while others still exist, but he expressed his confidence that they could be overcome, saying that he is optimistic that the formation of the government will inevitably be achieved.
In another point, the Deputy Prime Minister addressed the alliance between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the New Generation Movement, explaining that the existence of an alliance between the two parties does not necessarily mean that the movement wants to participate in the government.
Talabani stressed that the decision to participate in the government or not is up to the New Generation Movement, and that the Patriotic Union respects its choice in this regard, but at the same time he emphasized the importance of the alliance between the two sides.
He added that the alliance with the New Generation Movement is serious, and that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is proud of it and will remain committed to it, in reference to the continuation of political cooperation between the two sides in parallel with the ongoing talks to form the new government.
