MP Mohammed Qutaiba al-Bayati revealed on Saturday the date the 2027 budget will reach Parliament, and pointed to its most prominent features.
Al-Bayati explained to Al-Maalouma that “according to the information we have, the 2027 budget will reach the Parliamentary Finance Committee this October,” noting that “the budget will be discussed extensively by the Parliamentary Finance Committee, as it is the body concerned with the matter.”
He added that “the most prominent feature is that it will be an austerity budget, especially regarding the funds allocated to the provinces, and therefore there will be many points subject to amendments and discussions by Parliament.”
He indicated that “the budget, in any case, represents a key to resolving the rights of many segments of society whose legitimate demands we support, and therefore it will take some time before it is voted on,” stressing that “the process of approving and voting on it will not be as easy as some think, because the financial situation will complicate many points.”
