US President Donald Trump asserted on Friday that the war with Iran will end “very soon one way or another, and we have the ability to end it either way.”
Trump added in press statements that “Iran no longer has an army, navy, air force, or anti-aircraft defense systems.”
Trump continued, “We prevented Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, and fuel prices will soon drop sharply.” He added, “We imposed a naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz and are not allowing anyone to pass to or from Iran.”
He pointed out that “yesterday we removed the largest amount of oil from the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the war,” indicating that “we have important news regarding the diesel crisis and we will work to address it strongly.”
It is worth noting that Trump renewed his pledge earlier on Friday to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, saying, “Our naval forces are leading the efforts to ensure that Iran does not possess a nuclear weapon, and that will never happen.”
Trump had previously asserted that Iran was “practically abandoning” any plans to acquire a nuclear weapon, reiterating that Tehran would never be allowed to possess one.
He also indicated that the United States would not attack Iran before the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3, and that “fruitful talks” were taking place between the two sides, following reports of US preparations for possible large-scale strikes.
