A member of parliament presents 16 proposals to solve Iraqs economic crisis and warns against quick fixesShafaq News – Baghdad
MP Haider Al-Mutairi, from the “Ishraqat Kanoun” bloc, announced on Thursday that he had submitted 16 proposals to address the economic crisis that Iraq is going through, while warning against resorting to quick solutions that harm the citizen.

Al-Mutairi said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency: “ We are proud that we did not participate in or vote for the previous government that plunged the country into a debt of 210 trillion dinars, as we adhered to the side of constructive opposition and we are still on the same path. We call on the current government , in which we did not participate and which we did not vote for , to address the shortcomings of previous governments by controlling the sources of waste of public money and not resort to a quick solution that harms the working, poor and middle -income segments .”

The MP proposed reducing the salaries of the three presidencies, starting with the members of the House of Representatives, granting a license to a national telecommunications company, and collecting the debts of telecommunications companies.

He stressed the need to reduce the exorbitant salaries of foreign workers and decrease their numbers, eliminate double salaries (quadruple, triple, and double), and tighten control over all border crossings and regulate their automation.

He also demanded the return of the surplus numbers of diplomatic missions, the cancellation of exceptions in the sale of state assets, and the recovery of the state’s right to the “billions allocated to influential people,” as well as the recovery of the state’s right to the “trillion-dollars allocated to investors.”

He stressed the need to abolish what he called “false profits, as these are the money of all Iraqis and must be returned to the state treasury,” and to abolish customs exemptions for neighboring and non-neighboring countries, and to collect Iraq’s money from the countries of the world.

Al-Mutairi urged the recovery of funds disbursed to “the families of forgers and terrorists under the pretext of including them in the Law of Victims of Terrorism,” and the auditing and review of thousands of contracts that contain significant suspicions of corruption, and the activation of “Where did you get this from?” for all officials, their relatives, and those connected to them, from the head of a unit to the highest authority.

The MP concluded his statement by saying: “We have certainly opened most of the above files with official letters, and we have followed up and shouted about them repeatedly in fulfillment of our duty, and we are still doing our best to correct the course. There is no power nor strength except with God, the Most High, the Almighty.”
