MP Mukhtar al-Moussawi, from the Badr parliamentary bloc, criticized the political move to appoint four deputy prime ministers, pointing out that these positions consume the state budget at a time when Iraq is suffering from a financial crisis.
Al-Moussawi told Al-Maalouma, “Iraq needs radical solutions to the financial crisis it is experiencing, which necessitates not proceeding with the appointment of four deputy prime ministers.”
He added, “The political move to appoint deputy prime ministers will be accompanied by the appointment of approximately 200 employees for each deputy prime minister, distributed among security personnel and employees in various specialties, in addition to allocating special vehicles for the aforementioned officials, as well as designating headquarters for them.”
He explained that “each deputy prime minister will receive a plot of land measuring 600 square meters upon leaving office, just as previous officials were granted such land,” noting that “Iraq has become vulnerable due to the adoption of such decisions that cost the state dearly.”
