A member of the State of Law Coalition and former MP Arif al-Hamami confirmed on Sunday that an agreement had been reached on a candidate for the Ministry of Interior, and he expected a session of the House of Representatives to be held next week to vote on the remaining ministerial portfolios.
Al-Hamami explained in his interview with Al-Maalouma that “the State of Law Coalition has finally agreed to nominate its candidate for the Ministry of Interior portfolio, which is MP Yasser Al-Maliki,” noting that “the coalition has officially submitted the name of its candidate to the current Prime Minister and the political forces, including the Coordination Framework.”
He added, “Our position is clear: our candidate for the Interior Ministry portfolio is Yasser al-Maliki, and this matter has been decided by the State of Law Coalition.”
He noted that “a session of the House of Representatives is expected to be held next week to vote on the candidates for the remaining ministerial portfolios, particularly the Ministries of Interior and Defense, pointing out that several names have been put forward to take over the remaining portfolios.”
He stressed that “the resolution of this issue will be through the House of Representatives, and we expect the next session to witness a vote on all candidates for the remaining ministerial portfolios.”
