A source reveals the force tasked with protecting oil supplies to Syria... is not under the control of the central governmentAl-Maalomah/Anbar…
A responsible source in Anbar province revealed on Friday that the force tasked with securing the delivery of oil supplies via tanker trucks to Syria is not under the control of the central government and does not comply with its orders, operating as it sees fit.
The source told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The force tasked with securing the delivery of Iraqi crude oil supplies to Syria is an American force supported by air power. It is securing the road from the Baiji refinery towards the western regions, reaching the Syrian port of Banias.”
The source added, “The force is continuously conducting aerial reconnaissance around the clock of the road network linking Anbar to Salah al-Din province in a move aimed at securing oil supplies to Syria and from there to other countries.” He explained that “the force has been assigned the task of protecting trucks loaded with petroleum products coming from the Baiji refinery in Salah al-Din province towards western Anbar and reaching deeper into Syria.”
He confirmed that “the force is not affiliated with the central government and operates independently of the Ministry of Oil, overseen by senior officials in Washington.”
