MP Yasser Iskandar Tawtoot confirmed on Thursday that Iraq is in contact with more than ten Arab and foreign capitals in order to bring back those involved in financial and administrative corruption cases, noting that the coming period will witness the resolution of important cases and put them on the path to resolution.
Watout explained in his interview with Al-Maalouma that “combating financial and administrative corruption in Iraq is important, especially since it has reached very dangerous stages in some institutions. Therefore, in order to protect public funds, there are important files currently under investigation.”
He noted that “Baghdad is currently in contact with the capitals of more than ten Arab and foreign countries to extradite several individuals implicated in financial and administrative corruption cases, for whom official arrest warrants have been issued.” He explained that “their extradition and bringing them to justice is of paramount importance in order to uphold the rule of law and recover the stolen funds.”
He added that “the anti-corruption campaign must continue to enhance government performance and expose all networks that attempted to enrich themselves at the expense of public funds.”
