The leader of the Azm Alliance, Fawaz Mohammed al-Dulaimi, confirmed on Wednesday that the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF ) bill will proceed to approval during the next parliamentary session. He predicted a “parliamentary celebration” in the chamber coinciding with the vote on the law, following its referral from the Council of Ministers to Parliament.
Al-Dulaimi told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The PMF bill will soon see the light of day and will be passed during the upcoming voting session, given the parliamentary consensus on its approval, after the Council of Ministers voted to refer the bill to Parliament for presentation and voting.”
He added that “the passage of the law comes in appreciation of the immense sacrifices made by PMF members in combating terrorism,” explaining that “the law is of great importance to the PMF, as it includes guarantees of rights, in addition to supporting the families of martyrs and the wounded, and regulating the rights of employees within the institution.”
He added, “The upcoming parliamentary session will turn into a parliamentary celebration to vote on the Popular Mobilization Forces Law, amidst a parliamentary consensus to pass it,” noting that “the law will proceed towards approval in the next session, regardless of the positions of those who oppose its passage.”
