President Nizar Amidi issued an official statement on Wednesday, on the occasion of the end of the mission of the international coalition against ISIS led by the United States of America in Iraq, in which he affirmed that the decision of peace and war is an exclusive right of the state without any other party, considering that the country has entered a new phase of its foreign relations based on full sovereignty.
In his statement, he said, “Sovereignty is only complete with a strong state, firmly established institutions, and effective law, which monopolizes sovereign decision-making and exercises its constitutional responsibilities over all its territory. From this standpoint, the decision of peace and war is an exclusive right of the state and its constitutional institutions.” He stressed that “addressing the issue of weapons, placing them in the hands of the state, and subjecting all forms of force to the provisions of the constitution and the law represent a fundamental pillar in preserving sovereignty, protecting stability, and consolidating the prestige of the state.”
The President renewed his call to “all political and national forces to assume their responsibilities in protecting the unity of Iraqi decision-making, prioritizing the higher interests of the state above all else, strengthening national cohesion, and protecting Iraq from conflicts and rivalries.”
With the end of the international coalition’s mission in Iraq, Amidi said, “Our country affirms its transition to a new phase of its international relations, based on full sovereignty, balanced partnerships, mutual interests, and non-interference in internal affairs. Iraq looks forward to expanding its political, economic, trade, and cultural relations with the countries of the world.”
