MP Aqeel al-Rajhi, from the Tasmeem parliamentary bloc, confirmed on Tuesday that the process of completing the cabinet of Prime Minister al-Zaidi’s government remains unstable. He attributed this to the insistence of some political blocs on retaining names previously rejected by parliament.
Al-Rajhi told the Information Agency that “political agreements regarding filling the vacant ministerial posts have not yet been finalized.” He explained that “the crux of the dispute lies in the insistence of some political forces on their candidates who failed to gain the confidence of parliament during the last session, and their refusal to offer alternative, consensus-based options for approval.”
He added that “the lack of political consensus to complete the cabinet structure is negatively impacting the government’s executive and service-oriented performance.” He called on “political blocs to bear their legal responsibilities and prioritize the supreme national interest over partisan gains and private considerations to ensure stability in the overall situation.”
