Akram al-Kaabi, the Secretary-General of the al-Nujaba Movement, one of the Iraqi Shiite armed factions, said on Wednesday evening that he is “monitoring” the scheduled withdrawal of US forces on September 30 and is “fully prepared” to fight if they renege on their commitments to a complete withdrawal.
Al-Kaabi stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency: “Trump is delusional if he imagines that he will achieve a victory in Iraq, after failing to achieve it in Iran. We will not even allow that to happen in a purely symbolic way in the media, especially since he is someone who seeks media victories.”
He continued: “Then let him know that we are watching September 30 with full readiness, enthusiasm and great preparedness to wage the decisive battle with the occupying forces if they renege on their commitments to a complete withdrawal from the land and air.”
He added: “If even one soldier remains after this date, we will not let him return safely, and we will send him back to them as a lifeless body,” according to the statement.
