On Monday, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received an official invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to visit Tokyo, as part of the two countries’ efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and economic and investment cooperation.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that the invitation was conveyed during Al-Zaidi’s meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Akiro Endo, who affirmed his country’s keenness to strengthen cooperation and partnership relations with Iraq.
Al-Zaydi appreciated the invitation, stressing the importance of Iraqi-Japanese relations and Iraq’s keenness to develop them, especially in the economic, investment, energy, technology and development fields.
The Prime Minister called on Japanese companies to expand their presence and invest in various development sectors in Iraq, noting the importance of building sustainable economic partnerships that contribute to the development of the Iraqi economy.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador said that Al-Zaidi’s visit to Japan represents an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and opening up broader horizons for cooperation, especially in the economic and investment fields.
Endo pointed to what he described as economic growth and an improved investment environment in Iraq, attributing this to security and economic stability, government measures in combating corruption, and policies aimed at promoting development and attracting investments.
