The Maysan Refinery administration announced on Sunday the adoption of a modern system for measuring the quantities of crude oil received, indicating that the system is one of the international systems used to control the quantities of oil entering oil sites. Ali Taher, the head of the metering division at the refinery, told the official agency that “the refinery has adopted a modern and integrated system to measure the quantities of crude oil received from the Maysan Oil Company, with the aim of controlling the quantities entering the refinery and documenting them accurately,” indicating that “the measurement and metering system is one of the international systems used to control the quantities of oil entering oil sites.”
He added that “the system includes crude oil meters and transmitters for measuring pressure and temperature, as well as a laboratory and advanced equipment and technologies,” explaining that “the meters used are of the mass type, and are among the most accurate types of meters currently in use, while the system works to measure quantities of crude oil around the clock, with the possibility of extracting readings and reports according to the required hours and time periods.”
He further explained that “the daily quantity report is automatically generated by the electronic control room, without any human intervention in the reporting process. The room receives readings from the meters and analyzes them to produce a comprehensive report within 24 hours.” He noted that “the control room operates using the ASYCUDA system in conjunction with the PLC system, with a daily reconciliation between the quantities recorded in the Maysan Refinery system and the quantities recorded by the Maysan Oil Company.” He added that “the reconciliation process takes place between the shift supervisors at both locations, and the report is signed by both parties, ensuring that the quantities received are documented daily and accurately.”
