A leading Kurdish source revealed on Sunday that a political breakthrough between the two main parties in the Kurdistan Region, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), is imminent. The source confirmed that both parties have agreed to halt their mutual media escalation.
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the Information Agency that “positive meetings and dialogues have taken place recently between the KDP and PUK at high leadership levels.”
He added that “these dialogues have resulted in a clear convergence of views, paving the way for genuine solutions to end the crisis surrounding the formation of the new regional government.”
The source indicated that “although a comprehensive and final agreement has not yet been reached, both parties have officially agreed on the necessity of halting media escalation during this phase to create a positive political atmosphere.”
