An official source in Anbar province revealed on Friday that a force from the Counter-Terrorism Service, accompanied by a number of members of the Integrity Committee, is ready to carry out arrest warrants against former Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and the head of the Progress Alliance, Mohammed al-Halbousi, pending the issuance of the necessary directives from the concerned authorities.
The source told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the security forces are preparing to execute the arrest warrants and refer them to the judiciary, based on allegations related to corruption cases.”
He added that “Al-Halbousi has disappeared from view during the current period, and no party activity has been recorded for him in Anbar province or other provinces,” according to him.
The source added that “the political cover that al-Sudani and al-Halbousi enjoyed has ended, and all those involved in corruption cases will be brought to justice regardless of their political, security, or tribal positions,” emphasizing that “the arrest campaign will include senior officials in the previous government.”
