Informed sources revealed on Wednesday that the last air defense system inside Harir Air Base near Erbil has been dismantled.
The sources explained to Al-Maalomah that “technical teams inside Harir Air Base have completed, according to field indicators, the dismantling of the last air defense system belonging to the American forces, as part of accelerated withdrawal steps, in compliance with the agreement between Washington and Baghdad, under which the American military presence in Iraq will end entirely by the end of this month.”
They added that “this system, which is medium-range, was considered one of the most important American military assets inside Harir Air Base,” noting that “a great deal of logistical support equipment will be transferred in the coming days to Syrian or Turkish bases.”
They indicated that “all signs point to a limited timeframe after which Harir Air Base will be completely free of any American presence.”
