Kirkuk province recorded two new earthquakes on Saturday evening, bringing the number of earthquakes recorded in the last 48 hours to 8.
A source in the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring told Shafaq News Agency that the two tremors occurred 35 kilometers east of Kirkuk city, and were felt by a number of citizens in various parts of the governorate.
The source added that the competent authorities continue to monitor seismic activity and track any new developments through their monitoring stations, indicating that the strength of one of the tremors reached 4.1, which is the strongest among all the tremors.
So far, no information has been received about casualties or material damage resulting from the two tremors, while the competent authorities called on citizens to rely on official data related to seismic activity and not to circulate information not issued by accredited sources.
Kirkuk province recorded an earthquake on Friday evening, specifically 35 kilometers east of Kirkuk.
A reporter for Shafaq News Agency said that the tremor was the sixth in the province within 24 hours, and it measured 3.5 on the Richter scale according to the seismic monitoring center in the province.
On Friday morning, a fourth earthquake struck Kirkuk province, and was felt by a number of citizens in different parts of the province, after three earthquakes were recorded east of the city on Thursday night.
