Data from Kpler showed that shipping traffic through the Bab al-Mandab Strait slowed to its lowest level in months, following attacks by the Houthis on Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Jizan and Yanbu, further disrupting shipping in the Red Sea.
According to the data, ship traffic also continued to decline in the Strait of Hormuz despite the cessation of strikes between the United States and Iran, with the number of passing ships remaining limited over the weekend, as shipping companies remained wary of security risks.
Regarding Iraq, data showed that two giant tankers carrying Iraqi and Emirati crude oil crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Friday as part of the ships leaving the Gulf, indicating continued flows of Iraqi exports despite the challenges facing navigation in the region.
Several oil tankers carrying shipments of Saudi, Emirati, and Russian crude oil have left the Red Sea bound for China, in addition to another tanker carrying Saudi crude oil to Pakistan, as markets continue to monitor the impact of maritime disruptions on global energy supplies and shipping costs.
