Salah Boushi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, confirmed on Saturday that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s move to conduct a cabinet reshuffle and replace two ministers represents a real test of the government’s ability to establish the principle of competence and prioritize the national interest over political quotas.
Bushi told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “any cabinet reshuffle should aim to enhance executive performance and improve services provided to citizens, and should not be merely a change of names or a response to political pressures or understandings that are inconsistent with the requirements of the current stage.”
He added that “the success of the cabinet reshuffle is measured by adopting standards of integrity, experience, competence and ability to achieve, while giving the Prime Minister complete freedom to choose a government team capable of implementing his program and achieving the state’s priorities away from any political interference or considerations.”
He called for “moving from the logic of sharing positions to the logic of building the state, which contributes to raising the level of achievement, consolidating citizens’ trust in state institutions, enhancing political stability and achieving the national interest.”
Bushi pointed out that “the anticipated cabinet reshuffle should constitute a genuine reform step that enhances the efficiency of government work and directly reflects on improving services provided to citizens.”
It is reported that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi is seeking to make some ministerial changes after completing his cabinet, with the aim of ensuring the implementation of the government program, amidst objections from political blocs to this move.
