President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Saturday (July 25, 2026) that we are committed to supporting and strengthening governmental and judicial efforts to combat corruption and corrupt individuals.
Amidi said at the Islamic Day Conference Against Violence Against Women that “there is no security or stability in the region without the security and stability of Iraq,” noting that “Iraq’s strength lies in its unity and in putting its national interests above all else.”
He added, “We support the government’s strict legal and governmental effort to eliminate corruption and recover public funds,” noting that “it is our collective responsibility to protect Iraq’s sovereignty and stability in light of regional developments.”
He pointed out that “Iraq is a pivotal country in the stability of the region’s and the world’s economic security,” stressing that “we support the government and judiciary’s measures in fighting corruption.”
Amidi called on the political blocs to “take into account the representation of women in completing the cabinet,” explaining that “I would be grateful for the nomination of a woman for the position of Vice President of the Republic or Deputy Prime Minister or the creation of a Ministry for Women’s Affairs outside of the electoral entitlements.”
