Member of Parliament Riyadh al-Masoudi confirmed on Wednesday that the experience of forming governments in Iraq through a compromise candidate has not achieved the desired results, noting that these governments have failed to implement their ministerial programs and manage service and economic files.
Al-Masoudi told the Information Agency, “The governments formed according to this approach, starting with Nouri al-Maliki’s government and ending with al-Zaidi’s, have not been able to achieve tangible accomplishments in the electricity, services, health, and housing sectors, in addition to the challenges facing the financial sector and the fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate against the Iraqi dinar.”
He added, “The compromise candidate governments also faced difficulties in combating corruption due to the influence of some political forces that possess media, financial, and security tools.”
He pointed out that “Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi currently does not have a parliamentary bloc or a sufficient popular base to support his government program in light of the internal and external pressures he faces,” stressing that “the success of his government depends on his ability to achieve political balance and maintain consensus among the various forces, and avoiding unilateral decisions on complex issues, which could weaken his position.”
