Former MP Yasser al-Husseini stated on Thursday that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s success in managing the government hinges on his ability to continue combating corruption, pursuing corrupt individuals, and bringing them to justice.
Al-Husseini told Al-Maalouma, “The Prime Minister’s success in fulfilling his duties requires seriousness in his work and genuine progress in the fight against corruption, free from the influence of political forces or procrastination in resolving corruption cases.”
He added, “Al-Zaidi’s failure to combat corruption and save the country from this scourge will place Iraq before serious challenges, something the Iraqi people, in all their diversity, do not want.”
He pointed out that “al-Zaidi’s rise to the premiership came after the traditional political forces failed to agree on an alternative, making him the only available option to assume the position and manage the government, which increases the magnitude of the responsibility placed upon him.”
