Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi confirmed on Thursday that the use of tanks in “Operation Dawn” was to close the Green Zone.
Al-Zaidi said in a televised interview that “Iraq will not leave OPEC, but we are seeking a fair share of exports,” noting that “corrupt individuals have no option but to return the looted funds to the state.”
He continued: “I will be visiting Syria soon, and it is important that we have economic cooperation,” stressing “the commencement of an Arab tour after the anticipated visit to Washington.”
He added: “Investigations into the attacks on Saudi Arabia and the UAE are ongoing, and there are no indications that they originated from Iraq,” indicating that “the Iraqi armed forces will deter any action targeting neighboring countries.”
