Political analyst Majashaa al-Tamimi affirmed on Saturday that Operation Dawn Charge could constitute a strategic turning point in the fight against corruption, provided it marks the beginning of a sustainable institutional process and is not merely a temporary campaign.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, al-Tamimi stated, “The continuation of anti-corruption operations sends a firm message reflecting the state’s seriousness in pursuing corruption networks, which contributes to restoring public trust in the political and judicial systems, which has witnessed a significant decline in recent years.”
He added, “The bet on bringing about radical change in this area remains contingent on moving from the stage of pursuing individuals to dismantling the blind system that produces them,” explaining that “a corrupt individual is merely a link in a complex network that includes front companies, intermediaries, political and administrative protection, as well as sophisticated mechanisms for money laundering and smuggling it across borders.”
Al-Tamimi emphasized that “the true measure of the success of Dawn Charge lies in its ability to strike at the institutional structure of corruption and eradicate its roots, rather than simply removing a few names or figureheads.”
He pointed out that “the most prominent obstacles facing the fight against corruption are the entanglement of interests and the organic overlap between political forces and economic benefits, as well as the pressures exerted by centers of influence and attempts to sway oversight and judicial institutions, in addition to the passive resilience of corruption and the ability of its networks to reproduce themselves with new tools and guises.”
Al-Tamimi continued, “Sustaining the operational momentum, completing comprehensive legal and administrative reforms, and providing absolute protection for the judiciary from any political interference are the only guarantees for determining whether ‘Operation Dawn’ will establish a new era of integrity, or remain merely a successful step with limited impact.”
