MP Riyadh Al-Tamimi called on Thursday for the continuation of the momentum of the anti-corruption campaign and the opening of all files without any red lines, stressing that recovering the looted funds represents a top priority to achieve justice and fairness for the people.
Al-Tamimi told Al-Maalouma, “Corruption is a scourge that has been eating away at Iraqi state institutions for many years, and we have repeatedly warned of its dangers and repercussions.” He pointed out that “arresting those involved in looting and embezzling public funds through legal channels represents an important step towards achieving justice and fairness.”
He added that “popular support for the recent campaign is clear and tangible, and we support all steps that would correct the course and recover the looted funds from the hands of the corrupt,” stressing the need to “open all files and make a serious effort to uncover the fate of the funds that were looted over many years.”
Al-Tamimi emphasized that “there should be no red lines in dealing with corruption cases; rather, justice must be firmly present.” He explained that “combating corruption requires bold decisions and a genuine offensive, along with public engagement to ensure the sustainability of these efforts toward eradicating this scourge, for which all Iraqis, from all backgrounds, pay the price.”
