Security sources reported on Wednesday that the relevant authorities have received strict instructions to stop government vehicles and subject them to thorough inspection, especially on main roads and routes connecting the central, northern and southern governorates.
Sources told Shafaq News Agency that these measures have entered into force and include official vehicles crossing between governorates, with the aim of thwarting any attempts to smuggle money, documents, or any other assets that may be related to files currently under investigation.
This field step comes in conjunction with an escalating anti-corruption campaign launched by the government at dawn last Sunday, which targeted officials, members of parliament, and businessmen. Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi described it as the “first phase” of a broader path to recover public funds, directing oversight bodies to be fully mobilized to receive any indications related to corruption files or institutional shortcomings.
In a related context, the Strategic Center for Human Rights warned on Tuesday morning against misleading campaigns aimed at spreading frustration by claiming that anti-corruption efforts will stop or that they will not reach the “big fish,” considering these attempts an effort to undermine public confidence in the ongoing governmental and judicial procedures.
