On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi directed the reactivation and strengthening of the role of the House of Wisdom, along with providing it with the necessary financial and technical support, and called for the organization of an annual conference that includes a select group of Iraqi and Arab experts to present visions and solutions to the challenges facing the country.
This came during a visit by Al-Zaydi to the House of Wisdom, during which he learned about the reality of the institution and its scientific, intellectual and cultural role, according to a statement issued by the Media Office of the Prime Minister, which was received by Shafaq News Agency.
Al-Zaydi stressed that the House of Wisdom carries a rich cultural and intellectual heritage, emphasizing the need to give this institution the attention that is consistent with its status and importance.
He pointed out the importance of the House of Wisdom regaining its role as an incubator for intellectual and creative minds and competencies, and that it should become a national and Arab platform for attracting intellectual and scientific energies, through holding a large annual conference that includes an elite of Iraqi and Arab competencies, which contributes to identifying the challenges facing the Iraqi state and providing appropriate visions, solutions and treatments.
The Prime Minister directed that all necessary resources be made available to reactivate the role of the House of Wisdom and enhance its position, stressing that the required support be provided to achieve its goals, in addition to directing the relevant ministries and authorities to provide financial and technical support to the institution.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the House of Wisdom, Naeem Abdul Yasser Al-Aboudi, reviewed the history of the institution and its role in supporting thought and shaping opinion, and what it represents as a platform for Arab and Islamic culture and thought.
At the end of the visit, Al-Zaydi toured the corridors and halls of the House of Wisdom, and learned about its history and the milestones it has witnessed since its establishment in the Abbasid era.
The Prime Minister had assigned former Minister of Education and current Member of Parliament Naeem Al-Aboudi to head the Board of Trustees of the House of Wisdom.
