MP Abu Turab al-Tamimi affirmed on Sunday that the selection of the new prime minister was a purely national process, free from any external dictates. He emphasized that the decision was “Iraqi and not subject to American whims.”
Al-Tamimi told the Information Agency that “national political forces succeeded in breaking the barrier of foreign interference and proved that choosing the person tasked with running the government is a purely internal matter.” He added that “talk of an American imprint on the selection process is merely an attempt to distort this national achievement.”
He further stated that “the next phase will depend on a government program that prioritizes Iraq’s interests, steering clear of axis politics.” He pointed out that “independent Iraqi decision-making is the only guarantee for achieving political and security stability and overcoming the challenges imposed from abroad.”
It is worth noting that many political circles have praised the ability of national forces to resolve the issue of the premiership within constitutional and national frameworks without succumbing to international pressure.
