Information / Baghdad…
A parliamentary source denied on Sunday the circulating reports regarding the reappointment of most ministers from the current (outgoing) government in the upcoming cabinet. The source revealed that there is a political veto on most of the names, with the exception of only two.
The source told the Information Agency, “Talk of granting confidence to the current government ministers collectively is inaccurate, and there is no political agreement yet to pass most of the names being circulated in political circles.”
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, added, “Current indications suggest the possibility of renewing confidence for only two ministers, Naeem al-Aboudi and Ahmed al-Asadi, due to their success in their respective ministries, while political blocs refuse to re-nominate the other names.”
He pointed out that “there is broad parliamentary and political momentum pushing for the replacement of the old faces and the appointment of competent and technocratic ministers, with a focus on including young talent to lead the next phase, moving away from the traditional quota system that has proven its failure.”
