The seventh International Real Estate and Investment Exhibition kicked off in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, on Wednesday, with the participation of 300 specialized companies representing 12 countries.
The exhibition was opened by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, and is scheduled to run for four days.
The head of the Investment Authority in the region, Mohammed Shukri, said during a speech he delivered at the opening ceremony, which was attended by Shafaq News Agency, that the Kurdistan Region is currently going through an advanced stage of investment growth, noting that foreign companies are implementing about 20% of the total investment sector in the region.
Shukri added that local companies have proven highly efficient in implementing investment projects, as construction operations have developed to reach the level of the “real estate construction industry” and the development of community building centers.
The head of the authority explained that companies operating in the region rely primarily on engineering staff and local labor from within Kurdistan and Iraq, which directly contributes to creating ample job opportunities and stimulating the local market.
Shukri pointed out that the Kurdistan Region leads the countries of the region by obtaining first place in the field of employing and attracting foreign capital within the investment sector.
