A security source in Anbar province reported on Saturday that a new group of ISIS prisoners entered Iraq from Syria under the protection of a large US convoy.
The source told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “modern, shaded buses carrying approximately 250 ISIS prisoners, including high-ranking leaders of Syrian and other nationalities, entered Iraqi territory through western Anbar, heading towards the Jad’ah camp in Nineveh province in northern Iraq.”
The source added that “this group is considered dangerous because it includes leaders who have received death sentences,” emphasizing that “Iraqi security forces have taken maximum precautions to address the implications of these movements on the security and stability of the border areas with Syria.”
The source indicated that “US forces ensured the protection of the convoy’s movement, while warplanes and drones flew over the convoy’s location as a precaution against any potential attacks.”
