The seventh edition of the Construction Industry Exhibition kicked off in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, on Tuesday. The four-day event, which features 400 companies from 20 countries, is expected to attract more than 100 exhibitors.
Mohammed Baqir Hussein, a member of the board of directors of the Middle East International Exhibitions Organization, told Shafaq News Agency, “The launch of the exhibition coincides with a number of other international exhibitions in the Middle East, especially in Arab countries. Therefore, the Kurdistan Region is striving to attract the trade, industrial development, and construction sectors, as well as investment opportunities, to the region’s business environment.”
Hussein added that the opening of this exhibition aims to attract companies from around the world to promote their products. On the other hand, many international companies are seeking to establish agents here, thus bringing their products to Kurdistan, Iraq, and other countries in the region.
Hussein also pointed out that “a number of businessmen in Kurdistan and Iraq are now members of international exhibitions and participate in these exhibitions annually. More than 150 businessmen from Kurdistan, who are agents for global products, have been invited to international exhibitions in the United States and China through these companies so they can market their products and attract new agents.”
He concluded his remarks by saying, “It is expected that approximately one million people will visit the exhibition during its four opening days, and more than 5,000 exchange, trade, investment, and agency representation contracts will be signed.”
