With more than 15 thousand spectators... Basra hosts a global race for modified carsShafaq News/ Basra Governorate hosted an international race for modified cars (Drake Race Iraq Season 3) with the participation of more than 70 cars designed with high-speed engines, competing at 4 levels according to an international arbitration committee under the supervision of the International Federation FIA.

The tournament organizer, Saif Al-Maliki, told Shafaq News Agency, “The tournament is considered one of the most successful tournaments in Iraq and the region due to the high level of organization that accompanied it, which witnessed a large audience presence that reached more than 15 thousand spectators, in addition to the international referees who came from countries around the world to supervise the competition according to advanced measuring devices that operate with the systems of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).”

Al-Maliki continued, “All Iraqi provinces, including the Kurdistan Region, participated in the race, in addition to the countries of Oman and Britain, with the presence of Switzerland and France, with a number of participants reaching 76 competitors divided into 4 categories: the first 6-cylinder NA, the second 8-cylinder NA, the third Boosted 4wd, and the fourth Boosted 2wd, with 3 places for the winners.”

He added, “The specified distance for the race is 400 meters with a starting point from zero, and whoever records the shortest time to arrive wins. The three winners of each category were announced via precise, internationally approved devices,” stressing that “the championship witnessed an unprecedented high level of organization, through protection systems for the audience, competitors and guests, and in cooperation with the supporting governmental and civil authorities in Basra.”
