Wearing war insignia raises questions at the US base in Harir, northern Iraq

A security source in Erbil province revealed on Monday that US forces at Harir base in northern Iraq suddenly donned the war insignia.
The source told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “American forces stationed at Harir base in Erbil suddenly donned the war insignia, indicating that the base’s soldiers are about to carry out combat missions with unknown objectives.”
The source added that “wearing the war badge on the American military uniform was not present during the past period, amid expectations of the imminent execution of combat missions.”
He explained that “wearing the war badge coincided with the opening of the largest American consulate on the road to Shaqlawa district in Erbil, and also coincided with the Trump administration’s authorization to use force to protect its interests in Iraq.”
The source confirmed that “significant US military reinforcements arrived by air at Harir Air Base to bolster fortifications around the base.”
