Member of the Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Sabah Sobhi, confirmed on Monday that the Oil and Gas Law was prepared by the Federal Ministry of Oil without taking into account the observations of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the oil-producing governorates.
Sobhi told Al-Maalouma, “The draft oil and gas law was born in the Federal Ministry of Oil, and the opinion of the region and the oil-producing governorates was not taken into account.”
He added, “The current draft is similar to the 2011 draft and does not fit with the aspirations of the people and the oil-producing provinces,” noting that two technical delegations from the Kurdistan region and the Iraqi Oil Ministry are continuing to discuss technical issues about the draft oil and gas law.
