Washington threatens to use “military force” in the Strait of Hormuz

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Monday threatened to use military force in the Strait of Hormuz, or anywhere else, in a reference to Iranian territory.
Hegseth added, “We know that Iran cannot withstand the pressure and its economy is in a downward spiral.”
The US Secretary of State pointed out that “Iran knows that we control the Strait of Hormuz and that our blockade cannot be breached, and oil flows through the strait.”
The US Treasury Department announced Monday evening the launch of “Operation Paragon Economic Sanctions” against Iran, at the direction of President Donald Trump, stating that “this is an unprecedented campaign involving US government agencies, targeting Iran and those who enable and support it.”
It is worth noting that the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed earlier on Monday that its country would target the source of any act of aggression against it, and while it warned countries that allow their territories or bases to be used by forces carrying out attacks against Iran, it indicated that it would resort to allies to confront the American economic blockade.
The ministry spokesman said during a press conference followed by Shafaq News Agency that “countries that provide their bases or equipment to attacking parties must take the necessary measures,” noting that Iran does not pose a threat to any country unless that country uses its capabilities in “illegal acts” against it.
