US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suggested on Friday that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei may have been maimed during his injury, while indicating that Iran’s leaders are hiding underground.
“The sacrifices of our fallen soldiers will only increase our resolve, and our goals are clear, decisive and achievable, including the elimination of missiles and defense industries,” Hegseth said at a press conference.
He added, “We are using advanced capabilities, including artificial intelligence, to weaken our enemies, and today there will be the highest level of strikes in Iranian airspace.”
He continued, “Iran’s leaders are hiding underground, our superiority is expanding, and Iran is threatening shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and holding it hostage.”
He continued, ” The Iranian leader issued a written statement because he was injured and may have been disfigured,” adding, “We have destroyed all Iranian missile production and manufacturing lines.”
He added: “We are working to ensure that Iran will not be able to manufacture new missiles after the destruction of the current ones, and we will soon destroy all defense companies in Iran. We are working according to a plan to destroy all Iranian military capabilities at a pace the world has never seen before.”
He pointed out that “Iran no longer has air defense, naval forces, or missile launchers, and the fighters and bombers bomb their targets as they wish based on the improvement of our intelligence information.”
