A senior White House official said on Saturday that oil is flowing through the Strait of Hormuz at a rate of between 10 and 11 million barrels per day, noting that Iranian influence over the waterway is shrinking week after week.
The official added, in statements reported by Agence France-Presse, that the alternative routes being put in place by the US Navy to ensure the continuation of navigation are “paying off.”
He noted that the Iranian currency is falling to a record low, while inflation is hitting its highest historical levels, predicting that the Iranian regime will “one way or another” abandon its pursuit of a nuclear weapon.
Regarding the Iranian delegation participating in the United Nations General Assembly meetings, the official said that Washington had granted some of its members entry visas, noting that the delegation would be smaller compared to last year.
He concluded that US President Donald Trump values the Gulf partners and will meet with them to listen to their concerns, stressing the importance of continuing diplomatic communication with them as a group.
