US health officials link COVID-19 vaccines to child deaths

The Washington Post reported that US health officials are linking COVID-19 vaccines to child deaths in the country.
The newspaper, citing four informed sources, reported that US health officials are planning to link COVID-19 vaccines to the deaths of 25 children as they consider imposing restrictions on the vaccines.
She added that the officials’ findings appear to be based on information submitted to the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, which contains unverified reports of side effects or adverse experiences with vaccines.
Reuters reported that the US Department of Health responded by confirming that staff at the US Food and Drug Administration and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regularly analyze the vaccine adverse event reporting system and other safety monitoring data.
The ministry explained that until the vaccine’s safety data is made public, this should be considered “mere speculation.”
She noted that health officials in the administration of US President Donald Trump plan to include the reported child deaths in a presentation next week to a panel of experts advising the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is considering new recommendations for a COVID-19 vaccine.
In an interview with CNN last week, FDA Commissioner Marty McCurry said, “There are children who have died from the COVID vaccine.”
McCurry cited a database of self-reported vaccine adverse events, adding, “We are conducting an appropriate investigation, and the administration plans to issue a report in the coming weeks.”
