The US Central Command announced on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz remains open for commercial ships and tankers, asserting that Iran cannot control this strategic energy corridor from the Middle East to global markets.
This American statement came after the Iranian Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters announced earlier on Thursday the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all ships, including oil tankers and commercial vessels, threatening to target any traffic in the strait in response to what it said were American attacks targeting areas in southern Iran.
