The US Central Command on Saturday denied that one of its ships had been attacked by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, stating that these “allegations” were “false”.
A spokesman for the US Central Command said that “the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s claims of attacking one of our ships and killing and wounding 200 US soldiers are false.”
On Saturday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it had targeted an American combat support ship, threatening to target the rest of the US Navy vessels if attacks on Iran continued.
A statement issued by the Revolutionary Guard’s public relations office said: “The American combat support ship MST was hit directly and strongly by naval force missiles.”
He added, “If the attacks continue, the rest of the US military’s naval vessels and assets will be within range of the Revolutionary Guard’s missiles and drones.”
Israel announced on Saturday morning that it had carried out what it described as a “preemptive” attack on Iran, while a US official confirmed the participation of US air forces in joint strikes aimed at what he described as dismantling the Iranian security apparatus, expecting the operations to be large-scale.
Iranian media reported explosions in central Tehran and thick smoke rising near the government complex in the Pasteur area, with reports of missiles falling in the vicinity of vital areas, partial communications outages, and the closure of Iranian airspace until further notice, without an official announcement of the extent of the damage.
